WHAT STYLE OF YOGA IS THE TEACHER TRAINING?

Muddy Waters’s program is a vinyasa-based school that teaches alignments, breath, and movement. There are style highlights throughout the training to give you background on other types of yoga as well.

HOW PROFICIENT IN YOGA DO I HAVE TO BE TO DO THE 200-HOUR PROGRAM?

This program is for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of yoga. Whether you have a desire to teach or just to deepen your practice, this program will teach you what you need to know to lead a successful asana class and live in a yogic way.

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN THE 200-HOUr TEACHER TRAINING?

In addition to making lifelong friends and deepening your experience of yoga, you will study the following topics in depth:

  • Asana - learn the safe and intelligent way to perform poses

  • Alignment - with modifications, variations and the proper use of props

  • Sequencing - how to design dynamic, effective and intelligent sequences for all levels

  •  Working with different kinds of bodies/students

  •  How to observe bodies in practice

  •  Working with injuries and limitations

  •  Hands on adjustments

  •  Practice teaching

  •  Anatomy

  •  Pranayama - breathing techniques

  •  Sanskrit translations

  •  The History and Philosophy of Yoga (Yoga Sutras of Patanali)

  •  The business of Yoga and how to be successful as a teacher

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO BE A TEACHER?

No problem! Our 200-hour training is ideal for those who want to delve deeper into the study of yoga, and to improve their own practice. It's also great for students who simply want to have a transformational experience and learn to live their yoga off the mat. 

CAN I TAKE THIS TRAINING IF I’M PREGNANT?

Absolutely. Heather did her teacher training when she was pregnant and it was a wonderful experience. All students should first check with their doctor to make sure they are clear to take this training.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY?

A $400 deposit is due upon enrollment to hold your spot. If a student gives written notice of cancellation within five business days of the training, then a complete refund is given unless the program has started. If a student gives written notice of cancellation after five business days of the execution of the contract or day on which the student is accepted, but before the start of the program by the school, then all tuition, fees, and other charges, except 15 percent of the total cost of the program shall be refunded to the student. If a student gives written notice of cancellation after the start of instruction for which the student has been charged, but before completion of 75 percent of the period of instruction, then student is assessed a pro rata portion of the tuition, fees, and all other charges based on the number of days in the term plus 25 percent of the total program cost.

WHAT ARE THE 200-HOUR GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS?

In order to graduate the program you must be paid in full and fulfill the following requirements:

  •  Attendance of in-class teacher training sessions

  • Successful completion of homework

  • Participation in a final in-class practice teaching practicum

  • Completion of class taking requirement (select weekend formats only)

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT TO TAKE THE TRAINING?

You must be at least 16 years old to take the teacher training. If you are between 16 and 18 years old it is required that we receive written consent from your legal guardian 30 days before the start of the training.

ARE ANY BOOKS AND MATERIALS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE TRAININGS?

Books are not included in the base cost of the tuition. You will need to purchase these books prior to training. A book list will be given upon registration.

WHAT IS THE 200-HOUR ATTENDANCE AND CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY?

Yoga Alliance requires that you complete all 200 hours of the teacher training. However, we understand that sometimes conflicts come up, and we will have make-up opportunities. Please note that you can miss a maximum of 27 training hours, and you will have one year from the last day of your program to complete your attendance requirements. If you miss more than 27 hours or do not complete your make up hours within one year, you will receive a not passing status and will be required to pay in full to retake the training.

WHAT IS THE YOGA ALLIANCE?

Yoga Alliance is an organization that was started in 1999 as a way to create nationally recognized standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainings in the US. More and more yoga studios across the country are requiring their teachers to register with the Yoga Alliance, either at the 200-Hour or 500-Hour level. Yoga Alliance registration, however, is not a legal requirement for teaching yoga. Currently, there are no legal certification requirements to be a yoga teacher. 

WILL I BE QUALIFIED TO TEACH YOGA ONCE I COMPLETE THE 200-HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM?

Yes! With the successful completion of all the requirements of the program, including full tuition, contact hours, and homework, you will receive your Letter of Completion and Diploma evidencing your training at the 200-Hour Level. You may also register with the Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org) at the RYT-200 level (Registered Yoga Teacher 200).
